Hey ya, Octavus… Are you referring to the thangka? If so, that's Medicine Buddha. Above that I have a crucifix - the statue is Shakyamuni Buddha, and although I don't think you can't see it there is a small picture of Garchen Rinpoche resting beside that.
When I describe this picture I usually also mention something the viewer can't see. - In a location that would be behind the photographer I have a Meditating Jesus. For me it gives the impression of the two sitting in silence - smiling - looking at one another in compassion and knowing that all exists in harmony.
Humorously, when I pray (although we don't 'pray' to Buddha) I just kinda 'throw it up there.' - I like to think that should there ever be any disagreement over the outcome that they can sort it out - not me! lol ;)
Beautiful how you solved that inner conflict about the outcome of your prayers! It just too becomes a little prayer for 'solvation' in itself! And thank you for answering in such detail, really appreciate that.
Who’s on the picture in the middle?

Great word you coined there (ie “solvation”)!!!
