It feels good to post! —  For the last few days I've been without a steady Internet connection so I haven't been keeping my regular schedule. I believe that I fixed the problem a few hours ago, but
for now it's wait and see.  Although the issue didn't involve my computer (it was a router problem), I can't stop thinking about that new Gateway. :P

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference, right-wing pundit and Fox News darling Ann Coulter said something so profane and offensive I sincerely don't want to repeat it in my blog.
I do, however, want to mention it.  If you have a second check out the video at ThinkProgress and if you can, Digg the story after.   We may never quiet Ann Coulter, but by exposing this kind of insanity and the hate mongers she serves we may just introduce a few of her observers to a higher level of thinking and compassion. - Thanks.

Amazon: What Happened Here?

Posted on Mar 4th, 2007 by J.K. : Double 3 J.K.

Yesterday, when I reviewed my Wish List at Amazon, I noticed that the price of The Essential Vedanta by Eliot Deutsch and Rohit Dalvi had been lowered from about $17 to $1. Because I have Amazon Prime and thus free two-day shipping I naturally picked it up, but the transaction has me wondering what on earth happened here.  After my purchase, Amazon's inventory was reduced to zero. Could the price reduction be related to an ongoing policy?  If so, we should be able to monitor for changes of this type.  If you've experienced anything similar, I'd love to hear from you.  - Thanks.

I watched the Jesus documentary last night and the question and answer session that followed, but I still have no strong opinion on it.  The only thing I feel comfortable saying at this point is that there should be further investigation. - Sounds wimpy, I know, but as I understand additional factors remain that could disprove or strengthen the claims.  As a result, I'm putting my opinion on hold.

Hope you're off to a good week! - As always, Cheers!

Today, I received my first issue of Mother Earth News. I subscribed after reading an instructable on solar heating that was inspired by an article that appeared there, but my subscription is actually a little more romantic than just reading about solar heating. Lately, I've been taken with the idea of Five Acres and Independence—getting back to nature, working with the land, building things, and possibly even growing mushrooms as a business. Things are a bit dreamy at the moment, but I sense that by the end of summer these thoughts may very well be goals.

Enable Netflix Streaming Now

Posted on Mar 7th, 2007 by J.K. : Double 3 J.K.

It was announced in January that Netflix would begin slowly allowing their subscribers streaming access to select movies in their “Q”. For many, the problem is that the full rollout is not scheduled until JUNE. — Here's how to enable streaming on any account NOW.

  • Log into Netflix
  • Click on "Your Account"
  • Look for a link on the right that says "How can I watch movies on my PC?"
  • Click the "Start Now" link, and viola, you have a new tab next to Queue

If you're already logged into Netflix you can activate by simply clicking this link - Watching is free but governed by your account type. - For now, viewing is supported in Internet Explorer only.

Godless Dollar Coin

The mistaken design has already spurred e-mail conspiracy theories claiming that the religious motto was purposely omitted. - Would you sell or hold?

Free Land in Alaska

Anderson, a little town in Alaska's interior, has no gas station, no grocery store and no traffic lights, but it does have plenty of woodsy land -- and it's free to anyone willing to put down roots in the often frozen ground.  The  community of 300 people is offering twenty-six 1.3-acre lots on spruce-covered land in a part of Alaska that has spectacular views of the Northern lights and Mount McKinley, North America's highest peak. - ( First come,  First serve )

He's known for mocking the event.   Now, he says he's coming clean.   In an interview with Leslie Kean,  former Arizona Republican Governor Fife Symington admits that he saw a large triangular "craft of unknown origin" with lights, moving slowly.   "It was dramatic.  And it couldn't have been flares because it was too symmetrical," he says.  "It had a geometric outline, a constant shape,
and a big shape."
